Show Notes

Welcome to my new podcast series, Director's Cut -- featuring an amazing list of Filipinx directors filmmakers.

In this episode, I am joined by Bobby Rubio.

Bobby is the writer and director of the animated short film from PIXAR called FLOAT, which is the first ever animated film from Pixar that’s based on Filipino characters.

Hear Bobby's story on how his Pixar short Film came to fruition including how it almost didn't have Filipino characters as they were based on white characters. In addition, learn about how Bobby's son's autism has become an inspiration for Float and how the film's universal message of diversity and acceptance has resonated with so many people even outside of the Filipino community.

Most importantly, this is for all of us Pinoys! Let's celebrate this milestone since Float is the first ever animated film from Pixar that’s based on Filipino characters. Woohoo!
